This past January, I represented Tourism Tofino at two separate sales events – SITE Canada 2nd annual Exchange, and TravMedia’s 12th annual International Media Marketplace (IMM).

SITE Canada’s Exchange took place in Quebec City, where I met with 24 highly qualified meeting and incentive planners from across Canada and the US during 1 on 1 speed dating-style appointments with additional networking time over the span of two days.

IMM took place in New York City, where I met with 24 highly qualified travel editors and freelance journalists during pre-scheduled 1 one 1 appointments. Media was chosen based on their interests, location, and fit with our key marketing initiatives for this coming year.

Many planners and media that I met with were unfamiliar with Tofino, but very interested in learning more and could see themselves either proposing our destination for potential future groups, or sharing stories with their outlets based on story pitches we spoke about, including outdoor adventure, wellness, cycling, responsible tourism, food and beverage options, and more.
