In 2018, Tourism Tofino commissioned research consultants InterVISTAS to prepare a report on the economic impact of tourism in Tofino. The methodology included extensive interviews with visitors on where they are from and what they spent money on during their time in Tofino, as well as surveys of Tofino businesses to quantify employment data. The final study was published on March 9, 2019 and can be viewed/downloaded on our website here.
Tourism Tofino is in the process of updating this important study with visitor surveys having been underway since last fall and continuing through this coming summer. Tofino businesses would have received a survey via email earlier this week asking some basic questions around employment and other data. It is vital that we hear from as many Tofino businesses as possible to ensure the data is as accurate and useful as possible. Please look out for this survey and complete it as soon as you can!
The new economic impact study will be published in the fall of 2024 and will be used by Tourism Tofino, the District of Tofino and other agencies responsible for managing the local visitor economy.
