We appreciate everyone who has supported and joined a ‘Washed Up Wednesday’ beach clean. Over 2,167 pieces of debris, including 238 Styrofoam pieces, 247 cigarette butts + 434 plastic fragments were collected this summer. WUW was led by the Tofino Visitor Services team and assisted by Surfrider Pacific Rim.

A big thank-you to the Wickaninnish Inn for their generous grand-prize donation – a complimentary 3-night stay for two at the award-winning Wickaninnish Inn, home to rugged coastal beauty, old-growth rainforest, fresh local cuisine and expansive views of the ocean and of Chesterman Beach.

Congratulations to Vicki from Toronto, the lucky winner of this year’s grand prize!

Clayoquot Biosphere Trust joined the last clean of the season for a strong finish- In this blog, CBT’s Youth Intern Reflects on her Beach Cleanup Experience.

Doing your own beach clean? In conjunction with Surfrider Pacific Rim, the Tofino Visitor Centre accepts marine debris year-round. All items are collected and taken to the Ocean Plastic Depot for recycling, including: Styrofoam, hard plastics, rope + netting.
