A strategic objective of Tourism Tofino, and one endorsed by members through consultation, is increasing non-peak visitation to improve business sustainability and improve long-term employment opportunities. One opportunity to action this is to target corporate business – specifically the small meetings, retreats, and incentive travel sector.
To assist in this process, there are a few marketplaces that our team attends to meet with qualified planners in these sectors. One of these events, Incentive Canada, hosted by Business Events Canada (a division of Destination Canada), took place August 13-16, 2023 in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Incentive Canada is a bi-annual event, hosted in unique destinations across Canada. During this event, I had one-on-one meetings with high-value incentive travel buyers/planners from across North America and Europe, showcasing Tofino as a destination for small corporate businesses and incentive trips.
