As part of its destination stewardship efforts, the board of directors of Tourism Tofino identified an opportunity late last year to create and manage a scholarship program to support young locals who are interested in pursuing a career in tourism. This initiative would serve to support the local tourism industry by fostering a new generation of local tourism entrepreneurs, while at the same time giving back to the communities on the west coast of Vancouver Island.
On Saturday 24 June 2023, Tourism Tofino awarded their inaugural scholarships totaling $20,000 to three graduating students of Ucluelet Secondary School. Tourism Tofino board director Ryan Orr was on hand to present the scholarships. This year’s recipients were:

- Lauren Galloway
- Jodi Gibson
