At the beginning of September, we launched a new sales & marketing program to showcase how Tofino can welcome meetings and small group/retreats.  This sector typically travels mid-week, during non-peak times, which helps support our member businesses during slower times of the year.

Our Fall & Winter meetings advertising started running just after Labour Day, and will continue throughout the year in a variety of channels.  These ads are targeted to meeting planners and executives who are searching for special locations that inspire and connect their teams. A variety of ad types are currently running on these platforms:

  • Lure video
  • LinkedIn and Facebook, including photo and video posts
  • Digital display ads
  • CEO Magazine advertorial
  • Ignite Online Magazine

As seen in the samples below, our focus is to showcase how different meetings can be here – our meeting spaces have beautiful views, your afternoon break can be a guided team hike through the old-growth forest, mornings can start with brainstorming on the beach – it’s truly about coming together, connecting, renewing and meeting as one.

Along with the advertising, we refreshed the meetings page on the Tourism Tofino website, keeping in mind this content is directed to meeting planners. On this page, there is more information about Tofino as a meetings destination, meeting space capacities, a gallery of images, a sample itinerary meant to spark the imagination, how to travel here,  and also a ‘Request for Proposal’ form (RFP).   This RFP form will get sent directly to me and I will reach out to participating members that fit their group needs streamlining the process for meeting planners.

To stay connected, we created a ‘Meetings in Tofino’ LinkedIn page, where we will post information on meetings in Tofino, exciting news in that industry, and other information that might come up for meeting planners. Follow us here.

Moving forward, we are working on a co-operative advertising program for 2022 for members interested in attracting the meetings sector. Members who opt to participate in this will have listings on our meeting webpage, digital flat sheets, and the opportunity to join in on à la carte opportunities such as trade shows, marketplaces or sales events in key markets to showcase Tofino as a meetings destination.
