Hello Members,
In light of the announcement of fishing closures throughout the south coast of B.C., Tourism Tofino has added the following brief messaging to the Fishing page of our website. Our goal is to advise travellers that Chinook fishing and retention is still permitted in the Tofino-Clayoquot area, while remaining sensitive to the fact that this is not the case in other regions. We highly encourage all fishing charter and accommodation member businesses to include this on digital platforms.
Here is the copy:
In the Tofino-Clayoquot sound region, known as Area 24, Chinook salmon fishing remains open up to one nautical mile offshore. The retention of two Chinook salmon per licensed person, per day, four in possession applies. This near-shore zone includes some longstanding, productive spots.
Starting July 15, 2019, fishing of Chinook salmon offshore will resume. Click here to see the regulations.
This information will also soon be posted on social media networks and in advertising running through May and targeting Pacific Northwest anglers.
