The first half of 2022 has been very strong with winter and spring occupancy rates exceeding 2019 levels – levels deemed to be ‘more normal’ than the past two COVID-impacted years. Tourism Tofino has been focused on building visitation during these months with extensive winter and spring advertising and PR. Many of you have also been doing the same and so it is gratifying to see these collective results.
June occupancy was slightly lower than in 2019 and although we do not have July numbers yet, early indications suggest that July and August may come in softer than 2019. Economic uncertainty, air travel challenges and the resurgence of travel options may all be factors.
