The Province of BC’s Coastal Fire Centre has announced the prohibition of category 2 and 3 open fires in the Coastal region, including Tofino, effective June 23.   This prohibition also includes fireworks, sky lanterns, burn barrels and burn cages.

Campfires and beach fires that are no larger than half a meter wide and high are category 1 fires and so are still allowed.   They must also conform to District of Tofino regulations and be contained in an elevated device.  Beach fires are not allowed to be set directly on the sand.  See these bulletins for more information:  IB Coastal FC Cat 2 & 3 prohibition June 23, 2021, Open burning categories

We will share any further updates as we receive them from the District of Tofino.
