The occupancy numbers are in for the last quarter of 2018 and while Tofino experienced a slight drop in October over 2017, both November and December saw solid increases. The average annual occupancy rate was down by 3.9% over 2017 with declines occurring March through May.
This data is provided by participating hotel, motel and resort properties through STR, Inc. The sample size is 88% of the total units within Tofino and so offers a very accurate representation.

Does the AirDNA data follow the same trend?

Tofino AirB&B stats show that occupancy levels were lower than hotels/resorts for the same period however where hotels/resorts experienced a small decline in October, AirB&B’s experienced an increase. AirB&B results as provided through AirDNA as follows: Oct 2018 occ was 61%, up from 47% in 2017; Nov 2018 occ was 42%, up from 37% in 2017; Dec 2018 occ was 42%, up from 39% in 2017.
