Can’t find qualified cooks? go2HR can help!

go2HR is partnering with the BC Hotel Association (BCHA) and Culinary Recruitment International (CRI) on a pilot project to recruit culinary talent from Morocco through a special two-year visa program that does not require a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). The Moroccan candidates are trained in the classic French style and currently work as Sous Chefs, Chef de Parties and Line Cooks. The BCHA has graciously opened this program up to non-hotel employers who are struggling to find cooks and chefs. If you are looking to hire less than five culinary staff, this pilot is perfect for you!

How does it work?

Dennis Green, our Director of Industry Training, will travel to Morocco in February to interview candidates on behalf of your business. This is how it works:

  1. You fill out the job order.
  2. CRI screens applicants and arranges for Dennis to meet in Morocco.
  3. Dennis shortlists candidates for your review.
  4. CRI arranges a short Skype conversation between you and the candidates, to approve their hire.

go2HR is pleased to make Dennis available for this exciting and unique initiative by the BCHA. With more than 20 years’ experience as a Red Seal chef and valuable expertise in human resources and the culinary industry, Dennis will be sure to identify prospective qualified workers for your hiring consideration. He was the Executive Chef at Bishop’s Restaurant in Vancouver until 2007, then joined go2HR and recently celebrated his 11 years of service with us. In 2015, Dennis was inducted into the BC Restaurant Hall of Fame in recognition of his contribution to the cook apprenticeship training system in BC.
